“Choosing a wedding venue is laced with excitement but also fraught with anxiety. But we knew Pauntley Court was the place for us on our first visit. The gardens had been frosted with snow and the Country House had a winter glow. We had been romanced.
What absolutely clinched it? Olivia and I have always wanted to be married in a church. Having a beautiful Norman church within walking distance of the Court was more than we could hope for.
Recently we received our wedding photos, which transported us right back into the day. We simply could not imagine being married anywhere else. We’re forever grateful to Melissa and her team for all their help and wise counsel.”
It has already been a whirlwind of a year here at Pauntley Court (even if we are only a few months in), and a very busy wedding season is already upon us! It brings us so much joy to be able to share Olivia and Tom’s church wedding day that took place last September with you on the Pauntley Post today. A huge thank you to
Emmy Shoots for capturing their utterly gorgeous celebration on-camera...
Pauntley Court is a charming weekend wedding venue in Gloucestershire, offering plenty of space for you to relax and unwind surrounded by your favourite people. And that’s exactly what Olivia and Tom wanted to do, so they kickstarted the weekend by hosting a lovely, intimate Friday evening dinner in the Flower Room.
As the sun rose on Saturday morning, Olivia and her bridesmaids had the glamour squad in to do their hair and make-up in the Owl and Pussycat bedroom. This elegant room looks onto the tipi – which only added to the excitement and buzz of the morning! Meanwhile, Tom and his groomsmen chose to get ready in the John Masefield bedroom.
After a pampering session, the bride-to-be then headed into the Dick Whittington bedroom to put on her beautiful wedding dress, where her mother helped her with the veil. The bridal party’s reaction to Olivia was truly special and such a memorable moment to document. Here at Pauntley Court, our staircase is rather iconic and promises the perfect backdrop for photographs. Olivia chose this as the setting for her ‘first look’ with her father before they headed over to our church for their ceremony, which is just a short walk from Pauntley Court.
A mid-September wedding, the sun shone as guests made their way into the church to take their seats. Warm, bright florals adorned the front porch, offering a subtle nod to the change in seasons. Beth, our onsite Wedding Co-Ordinator transferred the flowers from the front entrance to the tipi during the wedding – showcasing just how versatile and sustainable blooms can be!
After they had said, ‘I Do’, the newlyweds left the church by the West Door (with its Norman arch that often leaves guests in awe). The team at Pauntley Court adore a fabulous confetti moment and Olivia and Tom’s was no exception. Guests walked back to the gardens for drinks and canapés under the stretch tent, making the most of the soft September sunshine. Every corner of the grounds at Pauntley Court will bring you oodles of photograph options as well as the opportunity to steal a few moments together on your wedding day.
Java Tipis provided the incredible rustic tent which was positioned on our flat terrace in front of the sunken gardens. From here the couple and their loved ones were spoilt with the idyllic views down the lake. Within the tipis (which really do have the wow factor), Olivia and Tom wined and dined with their friends and family at long wooden trestle tables. They then spent the evening dancing the night away under the stars to a DJ and saxophonist.
It was an absolute pleasure to work with Olivia and Tom to bring them a happy, love-filled celebration with their friends and family.
